The opening, the timber, and the extra shelf
Walkflow is how carpenters keep a measure-up: a materials takeoff, a variation record, and a scope of work, drafted from the walk. You talk through the opening, the timber, and the extra they add while you are standing there. Each line links to the photo or the moment you said it.
Measure-ups die in the notes app
You can hold a size in your head until the next job. You cannot hold the conversation. The client points at a wall and adds a shelf. You agree it is extra. Nobody writes the original scope down, so the shelf becomes part of "what we always included."
Photo texts show the opening. They do not show that you said the architrave was extra.
What to record
Walk the opening or the run of joinery. Say what is included, the material you named, and anything they added. Snapshot the existing frame, the level, and the access.
Walkflow drafts:
- A materials takeoff of the timber and hardware you mentioned
- A variation record if they asked for something outside the scope
- A scope of work in words the client can read
You edit quantities before you order. The draft is not a cutting list you trust blind.
If you still send sizes as voice notes, read Walkflow vs voice notes and photo texts. The client link is the same one in how to send a client a video walkthrough. The headings live in the scope of work template if you want them on paper first.
