Quote items template

Quote items are the labour and materials you talked through, written as lines, without a letterhead or a total. Copy the blank below, or record the walk in Walkflow and edit the draft it writes. Each line can point back to the photo or the moment you said it.

When to use a quote items template

  • After you have walked the job and before you build a final price. Lines first, total later.
  • When you want the client to see what the price is made of, split into labour and materials.
  • When you quote from site and want the list in your hands before you are back at the desk.
  • Whenever the quote might be questioned later. Clear lines are easier to explain than a single number.

Example: switchboard upgrade

Common mistakes

  • Mixing labour and materials into one line

A single "supply and install" line hides what the client is paying for. Split them so a change to one does not reopen the whole price.

  • Skipping exclusions

Anything you did not price should say so. "Making good" and "rewiring found once opened" are common ones.

  • Pricing the thing you spoke about, not the thing you saw

If the walk showed something unexpected, add it as a line or a "still to confirm" note rather than quietly absorbing it.

  • Forgetting to flag what is still unknown

Put open questions in one place. The client then knows which lines might move.

Common questions

What are quote items?

Quote items are the labour and materials for a job written as separate lines, before they are turned into a final price. They show what the quote is made of.

Does this template give me a total?

No. It lists lines for you to price. Walkflow drafts quote items from a walkthrough and does not produce a finished total or invoice.

Should quote items include GST?

That depends on how you invoice and your registration. Decide how you want to show GST in your own quote or invoice, and check with your accountant if you are unsure.

Can Walkflow draft quote items from a video?

Yes. Record the walk, talk through the labour and materials, and Walkflow drafts the lines. Each can point back to the photo or the moment you said it. You edit the draft before it is shared.

Faster from the walk

Walkflow drafts this document from the walkthrough. You still edit it before it goes out. The lines stay linked to the photo or the moment you said them.
